ATLANTA, GA – Paleteria La Providencia, based in Smyrna, GA, is announcing a voluntary recall for paleta products due to potential Listeria contamination.
Affected products include:
- Coconut ice cream popsicles, date code of 6/17/25
- Cookies and Cream ice cream popsicles, date code of 6/17/25
- Coffee ice cream popsicles, date code of 6/11/25

The manufacturer’s distribution records were incomplete, and GDA Food Safety is working with the firm to identify businesses that received contaminated products. Consumers may have purchased these products from mobile frozen dessert carts or Atlanta-area convenience stores. The problem was identified after routine finished product testing revealed a positive result for Listeria species. This cannot rule out Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
There have been no illnesses reported to date. Consumers who may be experiencing symptoms should contact the Georgia Department of Public Health at 1-866-PUB-HLTH (1-866-782-4584).
