Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper Celebrates Georgia’s Farmers and Producers at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market

ATLANTA, GA – In celebration of the hard work and dedication of Georgia’s farmers and producers, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper visited the Peachtree Road Farmers Market on Saturday, August 15th. Commissioner Harper’s visit was part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Meet Me at the Market campaign, which highlights the important role farmers markets play in strengthening Georgia’s No. 1 industry — agriculture — while connecting consumers directly with the farmers and producers who grow and make the products they enjoy. The campaign encourages Georgians to shop local, meet the farmers behind their food, and experience firsthand the quality, variety, and craftsmanship of products grown and produced right here in Georgia.

“Farmers markets serve as important incubators for agricultural entrepreneurship, giving farmers and small food businesses the opportunity to introduce new products, test new ideas, and build relationships with consumers,” said Commissioner Tyler J Harper. “At the same time, they serve as community gathering places that bring Georgians together and strengthen the connection between consumers and the farmers who help feed and sustain our state. I’m glad I joined shoppers at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market on Saturday to celebrate the farmers and producers who help sustain Georgia agriculture.”

The Peachtree Road Farmers Market (PRFM) was selected as the location for the Commissioner’s visit in recognition of its leadership in Atlanta’s local food community. As one of the largest producer-only farmers markets in Georgia, PRFM ensures that everything sold at the market is grown, raised, or made by the vendor selling it. Each Saturday morning from March through December, PRFM brings together more than 70 local farmers and producers, connecting the community with locally grown and produced food and goods.
